At age nineteen, Hugh Martin withdrew from university for deployment to Iraq. After education at fortress Bragg, Martin spent 2004 in Iraq because the driving force of his platoon sergeant's Humvee. He participated in 1000's of missions together with raids, accomplishing foot patrols, clearing routes for IEDs, doing away with unexploded ordnance, and looking out hundreds of thousands of Iraqi automobiles. those poems recount his time in simple education, his education for Iraq, his event chickening out from university, and eventually, the ultimate trip to Iraq and again domestic to Ohio.
Hugh Martin holds an MFA from Arizona nation college. he's a Stegner Fellow at Stanford University.
